HOW TO GET TO ATUM B&B
Rental car?
Unless you have specific needs and/or expect to make extensive trips outside downtown Stockholm, you may not really need a car. Driving and in particular parking, in downtown Stockholm may be cumbersome and (parking) expensive. If you bring a car to us, there is free parking in the street just outside our Bed and Breakfast.
From Arlanda Airport to ATUM Mälarhöjden B&B
Arlanda Airport is situated 45 km north of the city center.
Leaves every 10th minute, 20 minutes trip to Central Station Stockholm. Seniors
over 64 get a discount. During some campaign periods, two passengers can go for the price of one.

By Coach to Central City
Leaves every 10th (sometimes 5th) minute, 35 minutes to Central Station.

You may wish to check the cost of a combination ticket for bus plus taxi at the airport terminal ("Flygbusstaxi").
By taxi
The driver should know the way (otherwise see "By car" just below). Do not forget to agree on the price before you enter the taxi. The major cab companies usually apply fixed prices, but there have been occurrences of heavily overpricing from some smaller companies. The full price (independent of the number of passengers) should not exceed 600 SEK (prices 2009). The cab companies Taxi Stockholm (note the yellow circular logo) and Taxi Kurir are recommended.
45 km to central city, E4 south. Approaching the city, choose left lanes continuing E4 southward via city-center-detour-expressway (Essingeleden) with some nice city views to the left (i.e. east) along the way. After approx 15 km after the (first, short) tunnel, watch for exit BREDÄNG/MÄLARHÖJDEN. (The preceeding exits are - in approaching order: 1) MIDSOMMARKRANSEN/SOLBERGA; 2) ÄLVSJÖ/VÄSTERTORP, do not use these exits.)
Select right lane at exit BREDÄNG/MÄLARHÖJDEN, take the right lane at next "fork" making a quarter of a full circle around the Preem gas/petrol station. You should then be at a crossroad with a traffic light. Continue with Local directions below.
Continue straight on (ignoring the sign Mälarhöjden pointing to the right), starting a slight ascent (you should now be able to see a high, concrete TV-tower ahead). Approaching the end of the ascent, turn first right into Ugglemossvägen. Drive for 2 more minutes; after the 4th "bump" in the road, find the white house to your right. Look for the rose portal just at the gate of our house, Ugglemossvägen 19. You have arrived. Welcome!

Alternatives:
A) By car/taxi
From City Terminal Bus station (World Trade Center); drive west for 100 meters and turn left (direction "E4 S[outh]") onto the Central Bridge. After a long, slow right turn, you will now be in the leftmost lane of a three lane highway bridge heading south (Centralbron). Slowly, but without too long delay, move over to the rightmost lane. After 1-2 minutes this lane disappears into a short tunnel, turning sharply to the left (sign: HORNSTULL; E4 S). Take the middle lane of the three tunnel lanes. At the traffic lights, turn left.
Continue the road along the waterside for approx 5 minutes, maintaining the right lane straight ahead. At the ascent, go straight at the traffic lights there. Continue until the T-crossing; turn left and at traffic lights (after just 20 meters), turn left again. Go uphill and at the next traffic lights, turn right. Continue straight ahead (direction E4 South). After next major crossing, road turns slowly right, entering the Liljeholmen bridge.
After the bridge, speed increases to 70 km/h at the level stretch, continue straight ahead.
At end of ascent, new traffic lights; use rightmost lane. Continue and after 1 minute, join the E4 highway heading south (E4S). After entering the highway; your goal is the 2nd next exit (BREDÄNG/MÄLARHÖJDEN). Continue: see By car E4 South above.
Take the escalator at the end of the bus terminal down to the Central Station. In the big hall, follow signs "Tunnelbana" to the T-Centralen underground station.
If you plan to stay a few days and expect to make at least 3 trips per day (bus, underground, tram or ferry), a 3 day card may be a good option (200 kronor in 2009). Note that if you are over 64 years old, all tickets have a reduced price (e.g. 120 kronor for the 3 day card). Otherwise a non-personal, discount strip for 180 kronor (reduced 110 kronor) will last for 4 round trips. If you are staying a whole week, buy a 7 day card for 260 (160) kronor. There is a ticket office on the basement level (T-bana level) of the Central Station. As in most shops in Sweden, you can pay with Visa or MasterCard.
Take the "red" line south (typical final destinations are NORSBORG or SÄTRA). See map.

After approx 17 minutes ride; exit at the station MÄLARHÖJDEN (the one before is AXELSBERG; you may wish to check the map above the doors of the car). Exiting the station MÄLARHÖJDEN (this station is unusual in that it has only one exit), turn to the left. After c:a 40 meters, turn left, into the road Mälarhöjdsvägen going uphill. After c:a 50 meters; the first road to the left is Ugglemossvägen. This is our road! After 3 blocks; Ugglemossvägen 19, white house at your left, with a wooden portal (for the roses). Welcome! The walk is about 7-8 minutes.
By car arriving from the south (via Södertälje) along E4
Drive past KUNGENS KURVA (you will see IKEA main store at your right). Driving for 1-2 more minutes, exit at MÄLARHÖJDEN/BREDÄNG. At the roundabout; turn left, driving over the highway. At the traffic light (at the Preem gas station) continue straight ahead; see Local Directions above.
